Summer on the Lower Yough

Killer Falls

Mixed in with our many Upper Yough trips we also tried to include our beginner friends Juliana, Rich and of course Sylvia by taking them to the Lower Yough. The first trip was for Josh's birthday party in June where most of them rafted. After getting a look at the river they were ready to try it out for themselves. We did one run with just Jules and Rich and Josh and Sylvia joined in for another. Only a moderate amount of carnage occured and overall the trips went well. We're hoping to get them motivated to get out there in the spring so they can eventually start joining us on more exciting trips!

And of course what Lower Yough Trip would be complete without a proper seal launch?

Upper Yough Summer

With not much running this summer as usual we spent as much time as we could at the Upper Yough. Unfortunately with everything going on that spring it was July before we made it to the UY. There were many great runs and a few bad ones. Overall it was great being on this incredible river so much. Mark and I celebrated our one year anniversary at the UY. Several friends including Josh joined us on trips but it was also great having it be just the two of us. This was our river...

In 2005 we logged 11 runs. Here's hoping 2006 will be even better.

Goals for next year:
1) Finally get a clean run (have come close but not quite)
2) Figure out how to run Tommy's Hole correctly
3) Run National Boof
4) Run slot lines at Charlies... maybe
5) Run Time Warp
6) Run at higher levels (2.5, maybe higher)
